Welcome all to Best Youth Hoops!

You will receive insight into how to get the best out of your players via our blog postings, events, and news.  In other words, gain "The Edge".

Very quickly, this is how it all started.

My daughter, who is the driving force behind the Best Youth Hoops, decided she wanted to play basketball when she was 7.

Granted, the evaluations were in 2 days and there was no inkling of any interest in the sport before that day.

Frankly, the evaluations didn’t go so well, because she couldn’t dribble, pass or shoot on an 8 foot rim.

Guess what? She finished near the bottom of the list.  The season went as expected.  She scored 2 points, and did what the best she could do with what she had.  She could play defense because her footwork learned from soccer, but still couldn’t dribble

When the season ended, we spent every Sunday morning venturing to the outdoor courts working on fundamentals.

The following season saw great improvement.  She was in the top half of the evaluations surpassed the previous season’s point total in the 1st quarter of the 1st game.

Looking back this is where we connect the dots the beginning of Best Youth Hoops.

That 2nd season, I also became a youth basketball coach and saw that many players were in the same boat as my daughter the prior year.

By the way, after the first practice, I came home and told my wife, while shaking my head, and said, “This was such a blast, I hadn’t had this much fun in a while”Through years of research, coaching, training, and speaking with many coaches nationwide, we have developed a system which gets players ready for rec teams, AAU, middle school, and high school.

We have learned that youth basketball development is a progression.

Matter of fact, it's relatively easy if you take it step by step.

That is what Best Youth Hoops is all about.
